The Supreme Court today refused to stay the Centre's decision to impose MDR on UPI payments above ₹2,000. It issued notices to the Centre, RBI, NPCI and UPI Steering Committee on a plea challenging the charges. The bench observed that the matter was more technical than legal. The Centre said 96% of gateway users were exempt from the charges.
