Petroleum dealers met Petroleum Ministry officials to seek exemption from the Rs 5 MDR on UPI fuel purchases above Rs 2,000. They say such transactions are 30–40% of sales and cut into fixed commissions. The Ministry says MDR supports UPI infrastructure and is not a government tax. Both sides will continue talks for a solution.
