Scientists at ICAR-CMFRI have discovered a new conger eel species in the Arabian Sea, naming it Ariosoma cmfriense after the institute. Collected off Kollam at 300 metres depth, it differs from the 12 known Ariosoma species in features like vertebral count and speckling. The find, part of the Deep Ocean Mission, was published in Zootaxa.
