Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram has flagged huge gaps between hospital buying prices and patient charges, with markups up to 2,841 per cent. An IV infusion set bought for Rs 11.05 is billed at Rs 325. He urged the NPPA to review trade margins and consider price caps on essential medical consumables, since patients cannot compare or question costs during treatment.
