Ladakh Moves To Revive Lake That Shrunk 70%

Ladakh has launched a project to revive Tso Kar, a high-altitude lake that has lost nearly 70% of its area in a decade. Glacier water from the Rupsho Kharnak stream will be diverted through natural depressions into the lake. Officials expect the initiative to restore wetlands, migratory bird habitats and grazing grounds for local Pashmina herders by 2027.
