Uttarakhand recorded 775 road accident deaths in the first seven months of 2026, averaging one death every eight hours, compared with 1,285 for all of 2025. Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Nainital reported the most fatalities. Causes include speeding, rash driving and driving without a hill licence. Rs 800 crore has been allocated to fix black spots.
