Why This City Is Called India's Saffron Capital

Pampore, in the Kashmir Valley, is known as India's saffron capital. Its high-altitude plateaus, fertile soil, and unique climate support centuries-old saffron cultivation. Nearly all Indian saffron comes from here, valued for deep-red stigmas, strong aroma, and high crocin content. Kashmir Saffron earned a GI tag in 2020.
