A 21-year-old BSc student, Surendra Singh, known as ‘Bittu Tabahi’, is cleaning the polluted Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh. He started the campaign in January and has faced health risks while removing waste. The local municipality now supports him with machinery, while officials have proposed a ₹14.77-crore sewage treatment plant to reduce pollution.
