Nepal Floods Raise GLOF Alarm In Sikkim

Sikkim is installing sensors and cameras at risky glacial lakes to detect sudden changes and warn people about possible floods. The move follows Nepal’s recent glacier-related disaster and Sikkim’s deadly 2023 GLOF at South Lhonak Lake. Officials are also adding weather stations and warning sirens to improve evacuation plans and protect communities.
