Karnataka has suspended the food licences of Amazon, Instamart and BigBasket after poisonous datura fruits and seeds were found listed as food products. The regulator said consuming datura can cause severe poisoning, seizures and death. The platforms have been ordered to remove the listings, while suppliers’ licences were also suspended.
