The Extraordinary Story Of RBI And Pakistan’s Currency

After Partition in 1947, Pakistan did not have its own central bank. So, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) temporarily managed Pakistan’s currency system. It even issued special notes marked “Government of Pakistan.” The RBI continued this role until June 1948, when the State Bank of Pakistan began operations, ending the unusual arrangement.
