Telangana Sees 4,000+ Deaths Amid Organ Shortage

More than 4,000 patients in Telangana died while waiting for organ transplants between 2013 and 2026, Jeevandan data shows. Of 19,386 registered patients, 5,307 received transplants, while 9,413 are still waiting. The state recorded 763 organ donations in 2025, but donations remain far below the number of transplants needed each year.
