Hockey India defended its new saffron jersey for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, saying blue blended with the blue turf and affected player visibility. The federation said players and coaches recommended the change. Despite criticism from former captain Viren Rasquinha, Hockey India called saffron a symbol of courage, sacrifice and national pride.
