India's Only State With Zero Income Tax

Sikkim is the only Indian state where original Sikkimese residents pay zero income tax under Section 10(26AAA) of the Income Tax Act. This exemption, rooted in Article 371F from the 1975 merger, applies only to registered indigenous Sikkimese. Non-residents working or doing business in Sikkim must pay standard taxes.
