The WTA has made one-time genetic sex testing mandatory for all women players from Tuesday. Players must test negative for the SRY gene to compete on the WTA Tour. Those who test positive will undergo further medical checks. The new rule replaces the earlier testosterone-based policy to ensure fair competition in women's tennis.
