The Centre is planning to introduce ethanol as an alternative cooking fuel alongside LPG. Special ethanol stoves and fuel containers will be needed. The move aims to use surplus ethanol, reduce LPG imports and support farmers. The proposal is under review, with safety standards, pricing and distribution plans yet to be finalised before rollout.
