In 2012, aspiring actor Meenakshi Thapa was murdered by junior artistes Amit Jaiswal and Preeti Surin, whom she met on the set of Kareena kapoor's Heroine. They lured her with a fake film offer, kidnapped her, demanded ransom, and killed her. Her decapitated body was found later. Both were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
