Govt Tightens Rules On High-Alcohol Formulations

The Centre has tightened rules on medicinal formulations with high ethyl alcohol content, mandating licences and prescription-only sales. Products with over 12% alcohol and a above 30 ml pack size lose Schedule K exemption and fall under stricter Schedule H1 rules. The move aims to curb misuse, ensure regulated distribution, and protect public health.
