Sensex gained 521 points to 78,285, while Nifty rose 160 points to 24,430 on Monday, marking the fourth consecutive session of gains. Realty, auto, oil and gas sectors outperformed, with realty hitting a six-month high. HDFC Bank, Hindalco, and ONGC were top gainers. Midcap and smallcap indices also rose.
