RTI Reveals Widespread Petrol Pump Malpractices

An RTI revealed that the Legal Metrology Department booked 8,341 petrol pumps in Hyderabad and 21,718 across Hyderabad, Nizamabad and Nalgonda between 2020 and June 2025 for short fuel delivery and overcharging. More than ₹13 crore in fines was collected. Activists have demanded stricter inspections, digital monitoring and action against repeat offenders.
