The Indian rupee opened 37 paise stronger at 94.30 against the US dollar today, driven by a sharp fall in crude oil prices, which slipped below pre-US-Iran conflict. The currency had crossed the 95-per-dollar mark in the previous session before recovering, supported by RBI intervention. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra's remarks eased pressure on forward premiums.
