4-Day Ambubachi Mela Begins Today At Kamakhya Temple

The 4-day Ambubachi Mela has began today at the popular Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam, and will continue until June 26. The festival commemorates the annual menstruation of Goddess Kamakhya. The observance commenced on June 22 with the Pravritti rituals, marking the start of it. The temple's sanctum sanctorum were closed as part of traditional customs.
