A Puducherry customer who found a dead fly in his biryani received Rs 10,000 compensation plus 10 free biryani plates by court order. The restaurant didn’t contest the case. The consumer commission ruled contaminated food as “deficiency in service” under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, also awarding Rs 3,000 litigation costs.
