Marco Silva has been appointed Benfica head coach on a two-year deal with an option for another year, replacing Jose Mourinho. He returns to Portugal after a long managerial spell in England with clubs including Fulham, Everton, Watford and Hull City. Benfica finished third last season despite going unbeaten in the league, trailing Porto and Sporting CP.
