Habiba Jaaferi, wife of actor Jaaved Jaaferi, was allegedly cheated of Rs 16.24 crore by a BMC assistant commissioner and his associates. They lured her into a fake Bandra redevelopment project with forged documents. The official, Mahesh Patil, has been suspended and is now absconding. The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating.
